University of Alberta Museums: A History Of Collecting, A Passion For Discovery
First museum located in the Arts Building, University of Alberta, circa 1940

Collecting is a passion fuelled by a quest for knowledge. At the University of Alberta Museums, our past and present are characterized by the people whose passion for discovery has led them to explore the world, both locally and internationally.

Since the University's founding in 1908, over 17 million objects and specimens have been collected in support of teaching, research and community service. This has occurred primarily through the efforts of our researchers - faculty, staff, students and volunteers - and the generosity of our donors who share our passion for discovery.
